Terms of Service

Last updated: June 5, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of ReleaseJam (the "Service"), a release-notification and software-intelligence tool. By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

ReleaseJam lets you subscribe to software projects across package registries (such as GitHub, Hex, npm, PyPI, RubyGems, Cargo, Packagist, and Docker) and notifies you when new releases or known vulnerabilities are published. Release and vulnerability data is aggregated from public sources, including registry APIs and the OSV.dev vulnerability database. We do not guarantee that this data is complete, timely, or error-free.

2. Accounts

You create an account with an email address and password, which you confirm by email, or you sign in through a supported OAuth provider (GitHub or Google). You are responsible for keeping your password and OAuth identity secure, and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must be at least 13 years old, or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction, to use the Service.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service to violate any law or the rights of others;
  • attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its underlying infrastructure;
  • configure notification channels (such as webhooks, Slack, or Discord) that you are not authorized to send to, or use them to deliver spam or malicious content;
  • scrape, resell, or redistribute the Service's aggregated data in a way that competes with or degrades the Service.

4. Your content

When you import dependency files (for example mix.exs, package.json, or requirements.txt) or configure notification channels, you provide content to the Service. You retain ownership of that content. You grant us a limited license to store and process it solely to operate the Service for you — for example, to resolve the packages you depend on and deliver notifications.

5. Notifications and third-party services

The Service delivers notifications through channels you configure, including email, webhooks, Slack, and Discord. Delivery depends on third-party services we do not control, and we are not responsible for outages, delays, or changes in those services. Your use of a third-party service is subject to that provider's own terms.

6. Availability and changes

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We may also update these Terms; if we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Release and vulnerability information is provided for convenience only and should not be your sole source of truth for security or compliance decisions.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ReleaseJam and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service.

9. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from your account settings. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or use the Service in a way that risks harm to others or to the Service.
